XID mainnet vs retired testnet: xpa1r and txa1r

Testnet A is retired. Its ledger is archived at height 3,555, those coins have no value, and the balances did not move to mainnet. Pasting txa1r into the mainnet monitor does not show a mainnet balance.

When the mainnet monitor shows no balance, first decide which chain the address belongs to. A public xCoin mainnet payout address starts with xpa1r. The whitepaper says the encoding is Bech32m, the human-readable prefix is xpa, and the witness version is 3, so the address reads xpa1r…. There is no other mainnet address. Retired testnet A uses txa1r…. Pasting a testnet address into XID / MMM monitoring does not look up a mainnet balance.

What the official pages say about retirement

The MMM mainnet page says mainnet has been live since genesis on 2026-09-26 at 00:00 UTC; testnet A is retired, its ledger is archived at height 3,555, and testnet coins have no value. Balances did not carry over. Update MMM before you mine mainnet. The same page says MMM will not silently replace testnet settings: in Setup you set Network to Mainnet, then the current mainnet pool, port 3335, and an xpa1r address. The project site gives the same genesis time and says an address starts with xpa1r. Emission and maturity stay on the rewards page. This page does not repeat them.

Height 3,555 is the archived height written on the MMM page. Mainnet xpa1r versus retired txa1r, and the statement that testnet balances did not carry over, are on those pages.

Branches when an address is rejected

Only the prefix xpa1r was copied and the rest is missing: paste the whole string. The string starts with txa1r: that is retired testnet. Stop treating it as a mainnet balance. Use the mainnet address you already hold, and switch MMM to Mainnet. This page does not create a wallet and does not rewrite a testnet address into a mainnet one. Spaces or changed case: paste the string exactly as the wallet shows it. A mainnet address saves, but the number you remember is from a testnet screenshot: that figure lived on the other ledger. The mainnet card does not add it.

Illustrative case, not a measurement: you still have a testnet address txa1r1… and an old screenshot that says 40 XID. The mainnet monitor rejects the string. The next step is not to type 40 in as a mainnet balance. Switch MMM to Mainnet, use a new xpa1r… address, and save that. Under the MMM page’s statement the old 40 did not carry over and has no value they recognize.

After you save it on the monitor

The monitor stores only a full mainnet address that passes validation. It does not migrate a balance or hold a seed. The quota counts distinct saved device records per project, not wallet addresses: five saved devices per project on Free, 50 on Pro. Workers shown automatically do not add a record. Saving a Worker device yourself can use a slot. Several bindings of the same project on the same device do not use extra quota. How a mainnet balance differs from blocks and maturity is in rewards and balance. Setup steps are in mainnet setup.

Common questions

Will testnet coins show up on mainnet?

The MMM mainnet page says they did not carry over and have no value.

Do xpa1r and txa1r differ by one letter?

The prefixes already differ: mainnet is xpa, retired testnet A is txa. The rest of the string must not be mixed in either.

Does the monitor create a mainnet address?

No. It only stores a mainnet address you already have, after validation. It does not create a wallet, and it does not turn a testnet address into a mainnet address.
