# Where does a ZEPH RandomX Worker name come from?

2Miners mines ZEPH with RandomX. Distinct rig names identify Workers, and a name may be left empty. Share difficulty does not change the reward. The Worker count in the monitor is not your saved-device count.

## At a glance

Distinct rig names identify Workers. A name is at most 32 characters: English letters, digits, hyphen, and underscore. The rig name may be empty, and an unnamed record can still appear. Different names are what separate the machines on the list.

## Rig name, share difficulty, and account hashrate

| Setting in the pool help | What it changes | What it does not change |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Algorithm RandomX; XMRig is the example | How the rig submits work to the ZEPH pool | You still cannot swap in a Monero address |
| YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS.RIG_ID | The Worker name on the statistics page | Address-level unpaid and paid |
| Lower or higher share difficulty | The difficulty tier of submitted shares | The pool says share difficulty does not change miner rewards |
| Account hashrate and each Worker hr | The rates you see in the monitor | How many saved devices you have |

The Worker name comes from the username the miner uses when it connects, not from the device note you typed in IOTA Watch. The ZEPH help page says to select RandomX, recommends XMRig for CPUs and GPUs, and sets the username to YOUR_WALLET_ADDRESS.RIG_ID. RIG_ID may be left empty. When you do set a name, the maximum is 32 characters, using English letters, digits, hyphen, and underscore, for example rig-1.

The account API returns that wallet’s hashrate, rewards, and Workers. The monitor lists each Worker’s name, hashrate, whether the pool marks it offline, and the last heartbeat. The Worker count is the number of records the pool returned, including names that currently have no hashrate. It is not the number of machines in your home and not the number of saved devices.

## What each choice changes

The help page offers a lower and a higher share difficulty. It says to use the lower one if you are unsure. It recommends the higher one for Nicehash, and for what it calls more than 500 GPUs. The same page says share difficulty does not affect miner rewards. Regional servers are whatever that help page lists at the time; this guide does not assign you a host.

## If the name does not match

- The text before the dot in the miner must be the ZEPHYR standard address you saved. The Worker name is only the text after the dot.

- A space, Chinese character, or other symbol will not show up as the rig-1 you expected.

- Several Workers still share one unpaid balance, one paid total, and one rolling 24-hour reward. They do not each receive a copy of the wallet income.

## What to do next

- Open the address on the [Zephyr project](https://iotahome.site/en/projects/zeph) and compare the rig names with the pool statistics page.

- If one row is 0 or offline, use [hashrate at zero](https://iotahome.site/en/learn/zeph-worker-zero-hashrate). Do not create another saved device just to refresh the list.

- If the address itself is rejected, go back to [standard addresses](https://iotahome.site/en/learn/zeph-standard-address-vs-integrated).

## Sketch (not a measured rate)

A username of ZEPHYR… (the standard address).rig-1 uses that name to identify the row. An empty rig name can still leave an unnamed record. If the account hashrate is present and rig-1 shows 0, the name is still there and that row is not reporting hashrate. This is not a reward forecast.

## Limits

The monitor cannot change the algorithm, the port, or the rig name inside your miner, and it cannot see the local XMRig log. Whether a rental service is actually connected is settled by the pool statistics page and by the Worker row here.

## Common questions

### Can I mine without a RIG_ID?

Yes. The help page says the rig name is optional. Without a name, statistics may not show the separate label you expected.

### Does a higher share difficulty pay more ZEPH?

No. The pool help says share difficulty does not affect miner rewards. It only changes the difficulty tier of the shares you submit.

### Do three Workers use three device slots?

No. They are pool records under one address. They count toward the five saved devices per project, or fifty on Pro, only if you create a separate saved device for each.
