# KAS ASIC replacement with a reused worker label

A pool worker label is not an ASIC serial number. Reusing it after replacement can mix old and new shares within an averaging window. That mixed average cannot directly validate the new ASIC’s advertised performance.

## At a glance

A pool worker label is not an ASIC serial number. Reusing it after replacement can mix old and new shares within an averaging window. That mixed average cannot directly validate the new ASIC’s advertised performance.

## What to check

Record old-machine shutdown and new-machine startup times, then match the kaspa: address and supported pooled source. Compare local status, accepted shares and the pool’s averaging interval. Use a distinct label for future separation if needed. Keep instantaneous device readings and pool averages attached to their own windows.

## Example

Example: replacing a 2 TH/s ASIC with a 4 TH/s unit can produce an intermediate rolling average. Check a complete post-change window or share history before diagnosing underperformance.
