# When ETHW hashrate is empty, what do you check first?

Hashrate on the monitor comes from the ethw.2miners.com account, not the speed on the miner's own screen. Check ETHash, the three hosts on the help page, and the rig name before the pool's offline mark.

## At a glance

An address hashrate of zero and one rig marked offline are two different facts. The help page does not say how many minutes count as offline. The password x belongs only to the pool connection.

## Match the algorithm and host before reading the offline mark

Open the [EthereumPoW monitor](https://iotahome.site/en/projects/ethw). If hashrate is empty, check ETHash, port 2020 or SSL 12020, and a rig name of at most 32 characters on the miner. Do not type the local speed into the monitor.

## Branches when hashrate is empty

| What you see | Do this first |
| --- | --- |
| The monitor has no hashrate for this address, but the miner screen is moving | Check ETHash and whether the host is one of the three ETHW hosts on the help page |
| The address has hashrate, and one rig is marked offline | Check that rig's name and last-seen time. Do not treat the whole address as zero |
| The miner password was set to a wallet private key | x in the help sample is an example pool password, not the only correct value. If a private key was used, retire it and do not paste it into the monitor |

Empty hashrate on the monitor means this account on ethw.2miners.com did not supply a usable current hashrate. It does not mean the speed on the miner's own screen should be copied in. The 2Miners help page asks for ETHash and one of the Europe, USA, or Asia hosts, on port 2020, or 12020 when you need SSL. The rig name is an optional RIG_ID of at most 32 characters.

The public account can mark each rig offline and include a last-seen time. The help page does not say that offline means a fixed number of minutes without a share. The monitor shows the pool's offline mark and last-seen time. It does not add its own timeout. One rig can be offline while the address hashrate is not zero.

## What to inspect

Use this order. Confirm the algorithm is ETHash, not ETCHash on the ETC pool. Confirm the host is one of the three on the help page, not another brand and not a SOLO host the help page never names. Confirm the wallet address and the rig name were not pasted as one string. The pool password x in the help samples is an example, not the only value that can be correct, and you are not required to change a password to match it. The ASIC example sets Worker to the wallet address and the password to x. GPU examples such as lolMiner and GMiner set the algorithm to ethash and point the coin or host at ETHW. Those are software examples on the help page, not a diagnosis of your machine.

## What to do next

If the miner is working and the monitor is empty, first compare the host, ETHash, and payout address on the miner with the correct pool. Change a setting only when it does not match. If it already matches, check accepted shares, last seen, whether the source has updated, and then refresh. Do not change a miner that is already healthy, and do not assume it crashed. Do not type the local speed into the monitor. If the address has a number and one rig is offline, check only that rig's name and last-seen time. If every rig is offline and address hashrate is zero, then check the network, the driver, and whether the port is wrong. If a private key was ever used as the miner password, treat that key as exposed, retire it in the wallet, and do not paste it into the monitor.

## An illustrative case

Suppose address hashrate is 0, the rig count is 1, that rig is marked offline, last-seen has a time, and unpaid is still 0.03 ETHW. The check is why that rig stopped submitting. It is not a reason to change unpaid to zero. Hashrate 0 only means no hashrate is being reported now. This case is illustrative. It is not a reading from a real machine. Unpaid 0.03 is not current income.

## Limits

The monitor cannot restart a miner, change a driver, or derive a fixed offline interval from the help page. Crash analysis is free, and it does not control an ETHW miner. The agent controls Train at Home on a Mac only. Open the [EthereumPoW monitor](https://iotahome.site/en/projects/ethw) and read pool status and last share. Then see [rigs and shares](https://iotahome.site/en/learn/ethw-workers-hashrate-shares) and [the same 0x string](https://iotahome.site/en/learn/ethw-wallet-network-check).

## Common questions

### Why is the monitor empty while the miner is working?

First confirm the current hashrate comes from the ethw.2miners.com account, not the miner screen. Then check ETHash, the three hosts on the help page, port 2020 or SSL 12020, and a rig name of at most 32 characters. Do not write the local speed into the empty row.

### Is the password x an IOTA Watch password?

No. x in the help samples is an example pool password, not the only correct value, and no password change is required. It belongs only to the pool connection. The monitor does not store that password and does not accept a private key.

### Does offline mean a fixed number of minutes passed?

The help page does not give that number of minutes. The monitor shows only the offline mark and last-seen time from the pool account. It does not add its own timeout.
