# ERG raw amounts, decimals and displayed rewards

A raw integer can represent the smallest unit while a display reports ERG. A different magnitude does not establish a reward surge. Applying decimal conversion twice to an already normalized field is equally incorrect.

## At a glance

A raw integer can represent the smallest unit while a display reports ERG. A different magnitude does not establish a reward surge. Applying decimal conversion twice to an already normalized field is equally incorrect.

## What to check

Read the source field’s documented unit before converting. A nanoERG is 10^-9 ERG, but a pool API can already return normalized ERG. Preserve the raw value, field name, unit and single conversion result. Use matching units when comparing payments and balances; formatted chart labels are not substitutes for those records.

## Example

Example: 1000000000 in a field explicitly documented as nanoERG is 1 ERG. A field already labeled ERG with value 1 remains 1. When the unit is undocumented, resolve it at the source instead of guessing decimal places.
