# Where to copy the CSD addr20 and what to paste into monitoring

Monitoring accepts only the 40-character addr20 used with the miner’s --address flag. Do not paste a private key, wallet file, RPC URL, or another G-pools chain.

## At a glance

Copy the 40 hex characters printed when you create the wallet or saved in the miner. 0x is optional. The pool still pays that address.

## What you may paste

| What you have | Use it to look up? | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 40 hex characters, optional 0x | Yes | That is the miner’s --address addr20 |
| Private key inside csd-wallet.txt | Do not paste | Lookup needs the public address only |
| Node RPC or a bootnode | No | Those join the network; they are not a payout |
| An address from another G-pools chain | Not for this CSD page | Each pool keeps its own payouts |
| A Worker name such as rig1 | Not an address | The name is a label; pay still goes to the bare address |

The monitor wants the addr20 after the miner’s --address flag: 40 hexadecimal characters, with or without a leading 0x. The G-pools mining instructions say the pool endpoint is compiled into the miner, so you do not type a stratum host. What you supply is this payout address. Payouts go to that bare address. The Worker name does not change the destination.

The Compute Substrate site describes a network that records proposals and attestations. Starting a node uses a datadir, an RPC port, and a genesis file. That is not a mining payout address. Do not paste sample commands, bootnode lists, or multi-address lines into monitoring.

## Where to copy it

- On Windows, run create-wallet.bat as the mining notes describe and copy the address it prints. The private key stays in csd-wallet.txt as an offline backup. Never paste that file into a web page.

- If you already have the miner, the notes use the newwallet subcommand to print a new address. Copy only the address line.

- If you are already mining, copy the same string from the miner config, from --address inside HiveOS Extra config arguments, or from the Linux variables CSD_ADDR or CSD_ADDRESS.

- Before you paste, drop the optional 0x and count 40 characters from 0-9 and a-f. Letter case does not matter.

## After you paste

- Open [CSD monitoring](https://iotahome.site/en/projects/csd), paste that one string, and save. With and without 0x collapse to one saved device, so you do not spend two slots.

- Free is five saved devices per project; Pro is 50. Extra sources on the same saved device do not add a slot. Listing Workers under one wallet does not use a slot. Saving a Worker as its own device does.

- If the page says the address was not found, the pool has no shares or payments yet, or the string is from another chain. Read [not found](https://iotahome.site/en/learn/csd-worker-not-found). Do not switch to pasting the private key.

- A rig label uses --worker. Allowed characters are letters, digits, underscore, and hyphen, up to 24. The name solo is reserved and changes how a block is credited. It is not an ordinary label. This page does not track a solo full-block reward.

## Shape check (not a real wallet)

A usable value looks like 40 hex characters, for example a string that starts with ab and ends with 9f. Unusable values include a whole csd-wallet.txt, http://127.0.0.1:8789, and the word rig1 alone. Do not look those examples up on a chain.

The G-pools mining notes say balances over 0.001 CSD pay about every 30 minutes, with a 2.5% pool fee. That is the pool’s stated schedule, not a time this page has confirmed in a wallet. Once the address opens, read the three amounts in [pending and paid](https://iotahome.site/en/learn/csd-pending-paid-rewards).

Next: paste the address into [CSD monitoring](https://iotahome.site/en/projects/csd). When the account opens, use the [hashrate and payments overview](https://iotahome.site/en/learn/csd-gpools-monitor-guide).

## Common questions

### Should I keep the 0x prefix?

Either form looks up. Saving stores one address without 0x, so it does not take two device slots.

### Can a Worker name replace the address?

No. A name such as rig1 only labels a rig on the pool. Payouts and this lookup both use the bare addr20.

### Can I use a node command from the project site?

No. That site describes proposals, attestations, and node startup. Mining lookup uses the addr20 from the G-pools miner.
